Gingerbread House Recipe

This recipe works very well with the Gingerbread House pans.
Emily's House- Christmas 2012
Gingerbread
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup dark molasses
2 Tablespoons cold water
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt

Cream together shortening, sugar, and water.  Mix well.  Add spices.  Stir in four.
Spray mold with flour Bakers Joy or Pam.
Bake in a 350 degree oven that is pre-heated.
Let cool in mold for 10 minutes.
Carefully move gingerbread to a cooling rack.
Do not use the pan again until it is completely cool.

Royal Icing:
3 T meringue powder
6 T water
4 cups confectioners sugar
Beat all ingredients at low speed for 7 to 10 minutes or until icing forms peaks.
Keep icing covered with a wet kitchen towel at all times.  Icing can dry out quickly.
